Default Wire Question

Anyone know what this wire could be for? It appears to be Lt Green with a black strip.

I cant tell where it comes from as it goes into the front wire harness. I don't currently have a horn hooked up - could this be the horn wire? I was hoping someone with a wire diagram could identify this wire without me having to do to much fishing to testing.

I have a 1973 Coupe.

Thansk

someone cut it here.

this appears to be the other end

I don't think its water temp gauge. My temp gauge is working and attached to the block.

My lectric wiring diag. for a 73 shows a lt grn going to the headlights.

There is also a wht-grn wire going to the headlamp switch that shows if the headlamps are not up but should be.

There are no wires that are lt grn and black.
There are no other green wires in that area.

Are you sure that this wasn't an add on wire by someone?

In your 3rd picture, that is a temperature sender wire lead, terminal & connector. Look at "T" http://docrebuild.com/dr-r-web/SHROUD4.pdf

I had another look at the wiring diagram for a 73. There is a dark green wire/black for the temperature sender. Missed it the first time since the way they printed words on the diagram made it look like two separate wires.

I vote temperature sender as well.

If your temperature gauge still works, someone has modified something.

Steve, just a word of advice. If your wiring is all cut and spliced, it will be nothing but problems down the road. Most venders will sell just the front harness for under $200 and I'm hitting high on the price. Just unplug and run all new wires with new plugs and headache over for the next 30 years.
