A great way to keep the headers tight is to cut the headerflange with a hacksaw between the pipes, that will allow them to move more freely and not leak...Just my.02

Do you have room for socket head cap screws? The kind you use an allen wrench on? Bondhaus and others make "ball end drivers" which allow you to be up to 30 degrees off center with the allen wrench. You can put a small pipe or the proper size socket with an extension on the end of the wrench to tighten them.

Craftsman makes ignition wrenches which are very small and have tow diffrent shaped ends. These make it easy for me to get to all of my header bolts.

I can't see any problem iwth dinging the hell out of the pipes and using a 1/4 drive socket set...and 7/16 head header bolts....work like a charm...
I"m lazy and use RTV to gease the threads on the bolts also....they stay tight that way too....

I have the same problem, the two bolts closest to the firewall are a real ex-wife to get at, try using a crows foot with a universal on it. I have a real short box wrench that gets them almost tight.

Allen head cap screws are the answer. You can fit the allen wrench almost anywhere and they work great on my headers.

I bought mine at a local bolt supply but here are some on summitt racing:

I use a "stuggy" 7/16" craftsman wrench. works ok. i did have trouble with them working loose. bought new bolts and used high temp rtv gasket stuff.
things seem ok now. havent put many miles on them yet.

I use Stage 8 locking header bolts and I've not had any problems with tightening them and especially with them loosening. I highly recommend them. They run about $30-35
