I know a few of you have had the same complaint, the cost of a new vanity mirror is outrageous. With that said has anyone found a suitable replacement from another vehicle that works well?
Good question... My mirror cover was broken and fragile. I eventually used the stick-on Velcro squares to attach it to the mirror semi-permanently. I'd like to replace it at some point, but it's nowhere near the top of the list for now.
I plan to redo my interior this winter and I'd hate to have a broken vanity mirror sticking out like a sore thumb. It kills me that the replacements are $100+ on these when other GM mirror are selling for under $20.

I replaced just the mirror in mine. The mirror is glued into a vinyl insert and the insert is held in place by two vinyl grommets which pull out, and can be reinserted with new glass WITH CARE. It required evenly distributing the pressure and you'll know when it 'clicks' back in.
First, I pulled out the mirror/casing that the mirror is lightly glued into. Then I removed the mirror and laid it on the back of a $10 cheap wall mirror that I bought from Target. I traced out about 4 mirrors while laying on a flat table with a sharpie using the old mirror as a pattern. It needs to be the exact same size. I then sprayed WD-40 on the glass and used an inexpensive glass cutter from Home Depot to cut out the glass mirrors.
Then you just use rubber or contact cement to put the cleaned, new mirror in the old vinyl casing. Admittedly, I was glad I had made the spare mirrors because I broke the first one reinserting it into the visor when I pushed unevenly on the grommets. I probably spent two hours on it one evening but it looks like new again and my wife uses it all the time.
Btw, if anyone has an extra vanity mirror cover/springs I'll buy it from U. Mine was lost years ago.
Hope this highly effective, budget-minded alternative helps others. It was a very gratifying fix.

My mirror is fine, it's the cover hinges that are broke. I'm wondering if there was an alternate option for a non lighted. I would be fine with that as well.
Has anyone tried a C4 mirror to see if that works?
