Can someone tell me if I'm dreaming this up? I searched the archives for the words "plexiglass" and "rear window." Can anyone see where this is going? I could swear I've heard of Vette owners buying a big sheet of plexiglass and making their own removable rear windows (2) out of one sheet of plexiglass. This was more cost efficient than buying one of the premade glass ones from one of the many catalogs us :chevy Vette fanatics have to choose from. A) You spent less on one sheet of plexiglass and B) There's enough plexiglass to actually make two windows. With two removable rear windows, you can leave one well enough alone and tinker with the other (tint/vent/whatever you want to do with it) or have a spare if the first one gets scratched or broken. The benefits of doing it this way sound better in the long run.
I've got a '69 Corvette and it has the '78 rear window on it :( While I'm not ready to do the whole thing right now, I figured I could always ask and save the webpage as html with answers and then refer back to it when I'm ready to undertake this project.
So, has this been done? Have I been dreaming of the next BIG thing? If it has been done, what does a person need? What are the dimensions of the rear window? Thanks for the help guys and gals, I'm sure some of you will ask to have whatever I'm smoking, but I swear it's nothing (see my signature though,) and I hope someone can vouch that I'm not dreaming.
It looks like they just stuck on a complete rear upper deck from the 1978 body style. The pillars behind the seats look like the ones you'd see on '78-'81 & '82 non-collectors edition cars. It's fully sealed and I want the correct for '68-'73 rear upper deck back.
I don't know what has been done with the plexiglass or what I'd need to do, I guess it makes sence to install it in the removable frame.
Thanks for the other topic thread too, at least I know what I need. When I get ready to do a lot of fiberglass work I'll dig that file up and review it.
