Anyone know of a company that makes prefab 3" exhaust for our cars? I hope so, I got the estimate back to have it made and installed and it has got to be cheaper prefab somewhere.
I too have been searching and have found nothing. Curious, what was the estimate given to you for 3". I have checked w/ one place and got an estimate for 450.00.

995-1050 installed with Dynomax ultraflows. This is with flanges on both sides of the crossmember, and a H pipe with a flange in the middle. This was for 3" with mandrel bends and a 2 1/2" H pipe.
I read in a magazine recently, that, a 2.5" dual exhaust will support a little over 500 h.p. ; if your not close to that figure...why go with a 3 inch ???

I just didn't want to have to buy 2.5 now and realize it is too small. I have the ZZ502/502hp engine now and if anything was upgraded in the future I would be well over the 500hp level and the first exhaust system would be wasted money.

Maurice, I was wondering if you felt that the 502 met your expectations. And was there a big diff. between the 502 and the motor it replaced.
The 502 was already in the car when I bought it so I don't know how it compares to the original 427/390 that the car came with. As far as meeting my expectations, I have a 2" exhaust on there now and that is smaller than the 2 1/8" header primaries, so I am getting horrible performance out of it right now. I think that by opening up the exhaust will really wake this car up, and that is why I was looking into it. I would prefer to go big instead of going bigger, then bigger again with future upgrades.
Another forum guy "Je68" also has a 502 in his 68 vert and his sig says he ran a 11.6 at 119 or so in the 1/4. If mine ran that fast, I wouldn't need any additional upgrades to it. His also says he has 2 1/2" exhaust. His profile is http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zero...ofile&id=17079
Im running a 2.5" exhaust with Hookers Super Comp. Headers , Ravin Series 33 Perf. (almost straight-thru) mufflers, and i enlarged the exhaust tips to 2.5 " also. Im running about 540 h.p. and although i have never been to the Strip with it, im sure it is a solid 12.0 or less in the quarter. I think 2.5" is more than enough with good flowing Heads . With 3" , id be concerned with it hitting the crossmember and/or being too close to the underside of the car. Just my thoughts.
You need to talk to someone who upgraded from 2.5 to 3" at 500 plus h.p., to see if there was a difference.
Good luck!!! Ive tried zip, allens exhaust, and several other companies that specialize and I can't find anyone who sells a bolt-in 3" exhaust. If you find one please let us know..
Thanks
