Re: Need front tires, What size is best? (Budman78)
I use 255/60 R15 Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 on the front and rear. The front tires will rub slightly during a full lock turn.
I used to use 255/60 R15 Goodyear Eagle GT+4 and they did not rub at all. There may be slight differences in actual tire size from one manufacturer to another.
I had slight rub in certain turns with 255/60/15 goodyear, now have 245s on front like you. Budman, know anyone who needs 2 215/65/15 "H" rated BFGs, new never mounted. $100 for both. Any gettogethers in the future in dallas? :D
Re: Need front tires, What size is best? (Budman78)
I have Firestone Firehawk SS20's (P255 60 R15)(Not shown in picture). I did have a problem with the front tires rubbing.
One reason for these tires rubbing is a worn out suspension, like mine was. Excessive play in a worn out suspension will allow the tires to shift enough to rub during a sharp turn. Once I had the front suspension rebuilt and aligned, the rubbing problem was gone. After all, P255 60R15 size tires was an option from the factory.
In my opinion, I see no need for a tire larger than P255 on the front. The rear tires are where the traction is needed.
