Default 350 Build

I recently purchased a late 70's 350 to be a project motor. I'm hoping to eventually swap this one for the existing stock L-48 in my Vette. I'm faced with options limited only by my budget, which I'm setting loosely around $3000. I have the block, crank, Edelbrock Performer intake, and Hooker Comp headers. I'm looking for opinions on rebuild kits, heads, cams, and carbs. My overall goal is a strong street/strip motor with around a 10:1 comp ratio, and roughly 350-375 HP and torque. I appreciate your opinions.

It would be good money spent to have the block sonic tested so that you're not spending good money on a bad block. I'd go afr 180cc or 195cc depending on camshaft and a roller camshaft, crafty shopping and you could probably come in around your budget.

For a mild 350" build, it would be real hard for me not to just buy one of these and slip in a cam and a decent set of small chamber heads on it, Reuse same lifters, valvetrain etc. Everything is new and machined well.

No drama and you can sell off the brand new heads to someone that just wants stock stuff.
