Hello Everyone
I have been reviewing previous threads regarding tires sizes for C3's however they are a few years old now so I just wanted to see if there is anything new.
I understand that the original tire size for the 1975 was 220/70/15 which are currently on my car with the original rims.
Is this size currently still available anywhere and if not would someone please recommend the best alternative size which will hopefully fit my current rims without causing rubbing etc. as referred to in some of the previous threads on the topic.
Thanks
Hi Mike
I was at the garage talking to my mechanic about it today...he is a Good Year guy. At the moment I believe there are Good Year Eagle GT's on it. Anyway he mentioned that he thought that the 225/70/15 ( raised white lettering ) should be ok and they were only about 170.00/piece.
However when I looked at some 255/60/15 online, I think they were Good Year also they wanted 369.00 per tire. Price difference had me confused.
Sorry Mike
Not sure how I got confused with the 220 thing. So my tire guy says he can get the 225/70/r15 with no problem whatsoever and they should fit the original rim.
thanks
Ok thanks, that is another option then. My guy sells Cooper also. The figure I saw was online, believe it was a Canadian site for BF Goodrich.
Dare I ask which of the two sizes looks best ?
BF Goodrich Radial T/A Tire P255/60R15 are $149 ea at Wallmart or Sams.
All I've used for years.
If you want original size
BF Goodrich Radial T/A Tire P225/70R15 for $139.00
This is what I run on my 74 Stingray ....they look good ......perform plenty good for a daily driver .......I used them 35 years ago on my first Corvette ...also a 74 .
Thanks. The previous owner had a new set of eagle gt's. Spring 2013 I believe. Apparently the master cylinder seized and the rear tires got flat spotted. So the fronts are basically new and the rears are a worn pair that were installed to get by. I think the gt's he had are expensive. Not sure whether to chase after two of those or just get four of the types mentioned above. Something fun to think about while it snows for the next four months.

While it would appear, on the surface, that those 2 tires would be good to use, make sure that their manufacturing dates are still fairly recent. The PO might have installed the tires as "brand new" in '13, but they could have been a few years old at the time.
Thanks. I will check that. Either way from what I have read here there are some good options and it is not going to be the high cost item imagined. Appreciate the assistance from everyone.
