wheres this alternator wire go?
does the red wire go on top and the brown underneath of it?
i put new connectors on all of my alternator wires and soldered them and cant remember for sure which goes where, i think the red goes on top...
A WORD OF WARNING...
some of you may remember my thread about my scary ride home when my alt was overcharging and my lights were going real bright and real dim...
it ended up frying 2 headlights and a brand new a/c delco battery...
well...instead of buying a new alt (which, by the way has the regulator built into it)...i opted to have mine rebuilt by the local auto elec shop...
he needed some letters on his boat so we traded...i love to do that :)
anyway...as it turned out...the brown wire blade connector was loose and sloppy on the blade and the main 12 volt wire going to the alt was also VERY loose going into the "eye" type connector...so loose in fact that a very slight tug on the wire pulled it out of the connector...
the auto elec guy told me that that was probably what made the reg overcharge the battery and cause all of this to happen and to solder them on to prevent it from happening again...
you may want to check yours :)
so...is the red wire the top one??
hey while we're at it and you have been kind enough to post this pic...
the little "guard" that is bolted to the alt mount...what is it for?
mine is broken off...not a big deal...right??
