bench bleed master cylinder??
i am going to remove the MC and paint it with the cast paint i showed in an earlier thread... that stuff is awesome...
should i bench bleed it while its out before reassembling and bleeding the rest of the system??
With the master cylinder mounted in the car, run a line from each port back up over the top of the master cyl and into the reservoir... reaching as close as possible to the bottom.
The tubes that sometimes come with a new master cylinder are okay to use, but if you don't have them, get two tubes.... Raybestos BP104 and BP105 (BAL104 and BAL105 PepBoys) to fit the two different inverted flare sizes of the master cylinder. Some NAPA stores have them, some don't. These are 8 inches long each. Cut off one end of each line, and use the larger flared fitting of each to mate to the master cylinder ports. Bend the tubes to wrap around from the ports to the reservoir. Then fill the master cylinder with fluid & pump away until there are no bubbles coming out of the tiny holes in the reservoir(s). Let it sit for 20 minutes & re-test. There is usually more air. Attach your lines & bleed the rest of the system.
These tubes fit most if not all C3 power master cylinders.
Of course, if you have an original GM master cylinder with the bleeders on the side (like I have on my 70) , forget what I just said & use the bleeders & some hose instead.
