1968 Speedo Slow

Hello,

I have a stock 1968 L68 with a speedometer that does not work properly.

It "lags" behind the speed and will only go to 40 mph at best.

What is the most likely culprit?

Worn gear on the speedo cable?

If the odometer registers correctly, it's the speedo head itself that's faulty. If the odo is also reading low, look at the cable and drive gears.
