Well i replaced all the weatherstripping on the car last year and I never figured out where this leak is coming from. It just leaks on the floorpans in the front. So it'll ran hard and I'll find the floor pans wet. Putting a cover on the car stops the leak. But anyway, the guy who owned the car before me started a body of restore but only ended up doing the frame. I've read a couple of articles that said that when you take the body off the car it breaks some seal in the front and that leads to floor pans wet spots when it rans. Seems like it's coming down the windshield but I can't tell. Anyway I can figure out where this leak is coming from and possibly fix it. Thanks for the help. This is a pain in the butt. :D
Check to see if drain hole in back of doors underneath is clogged with debis. Water will normally seep past outer seal at top of door. If it cant drain out the bottom it will pool in door untill it overflows from under door panel and into interrior. Also could be leaking in from the cowl area. Drain passages there could be clogged as well.
In addition to the above post...
It could also be a rust hole in the widow frame or the cracked seal you heard of. One way to find it is to pull off the pass side dash insert and the kickpanel. then have someone pour waterin different areas. You will see it coming in if it's a hole or crack.
awesome. that should be plenty of ammo to start with. For conversation sake, if that seal is broken how would i go about fixing it? And I plan on having a new windshield put on the car pretty soon. So while that is getting done, I'll check to see if there is any cracks or rust spots i can fix.
One more item to check...If you are missing the weatherproof seal behind the door panels, you will leak behind the door panel, onto the sill, then migrate to the floor pans. Drove me nuts until I found this one. I used a piece of heavy gauge visqueen and sealed with flexible caulk around the outline before replacing the door panels.
