I am thinking about taking my car to the shop to get a new exhaust system done. Been thinking bout it for a long time, but still am working for the money. Question is, How much difference do you think a 2.5" exhaust is going to make over a 2.25" exhaust. Anyone who knows me, knows im thinking about the difference in the quarter mile and trap speed. :)
Right now i have a 2.25" exhaust with Super Turbo mufflers and two hollowed out cats on the car. Im gonna have a mandrel bent 2.5" with Flowmasters put on the car without any cats.
I know this question is relative to how much power the car is making so i will have to guess about 330-360HP.
(GordenM do you still have the web address of that shop? :))
FWIW, when I first installed my new engine I was getting backfiring thru the carb. I removed the 2~2.25" dual exhaust and mufflers and replaced it with dual 2.5" with Flowmasters and the car ran much better afterwards.
Denny at Mufflex can answer your questions. Mine gained a lot going from stock 2 1/2 crappy bends and stock mufflers to good 2 1/2 pipes and Flowmasters. 4 mph in the 1/4 mile gain for me
