Default Off Frame Resroration

I'm looking to remove the frame to get powder coated and at this time I don't have any way to lift the cockpit off the frame.

The only thing left on the frame is the cockpit of the car complete with doors, upholstery, complete dash, steering wheel and bake booster c/w master cylinder.

The seats, T-top and battery are out to lessen the weight. And that's the way I would like to remove it from the frame.

Can anyone tell what this cockpit would weigh?

I'm thinking about supporting the cockpit independently of the frame and then dropping the frame and sliding it out from underneath.

I'm looking for advice, any advice is welcome.
Thx, John

I supported mine on jackstands and dropped the frame. Then, used long 4x4 oak beams to bring the jackstands out further so I could slide the frame out.

After building a rolling chassis, I used an engine hoist to lower the gutted body shell back on.

I'd "guess" it's in the 1200 lb range.....I've seen plenty of guys lift the body with an engine hoist

Thanks Mike. It looks like I'll be using your method. I plan to elevate the cockpit enough to clear the frame. Then slide it out from underneath.
I'll have to remove and replace the supports as I slide the frame back and out. Once the frame is out I plan to build a proper support so I can move it as required.
Once my rolling chassis is complete I plan to wheel it over and set it on.
I have an engine lift but I can't find anyplace to lift from. My car is a Berlina so I don't have the running boards like the vettes.

Thx Mr JLR. Knowing it's about 1200 pounds helps.
