Default Muncie Side Cover Install

Good morning guys. I took the side cover off my trans to replace the seals and when I took it off I couldn't tell which slot the pins on the forks go into.

Yup . . exactly what I was talking about. Whoa wait a minute . . I want to clarify. The pins on the forks that go through the casting the shafts are on. They go into a notch in the arms on the side cover and I am not sure what one it is.

Hi Gary thanks . . that much I got. Its where the pins on the forks go into on the side cover I'm not sure about. Maybe I just haven't pushed hard enough to get them to pop into the right notch lol. One more thing . . there is no difference between the shafts right? I saw a video on youtube where one was rounded like in your photo and the other had a square in the casting. The guy said they are different. Both yours are rounded but both of mine are squared so I'm thinking the video is wrong lol

Put the transmission into 2nd gear! by sliding the rear most slider hub forward. Put the shift forks into the side cover lever arms.....place the extended pin into the center notch of the shift interlock arms ( the 2 metal moving arms with the spring loading them on the side cover ) put the rear shift fork forward into 2nd gear shift position.....making shure the front fork is still centered in the middle notch of the interlock arms.....make sure the forks engage the slot on your syncro slider and drop the side cover back on without any problems....easy!

Sent you a reply on lubricants. Presently I'm pretty happy with the offerings from Brad Penn in a street driven Vette their gear lube seems to work really well with no seepage like I have seen from many synthetic lubricants on an old Muncie with its paper sealing gaskets.
