some pics of 6 spd install in a 1973 with a sbc and original 4 spd cross member with a new center mount fab. for the 6 spd and relocated park brake pulley
im in the process of installing one now in my 69.are you going to get an offset shifter and use your original center console.im running 370 rear gear so went with the 266 first.

I haven't decided if I am going to make a offset for the shifter or make a plate to go in the console with the center shifter location. I think the shifter is too close to the wheel in the muncie position. I think center might be better. mine is also a 3.73 and close ratio 6spd

I got a offset shifter from American powertrain with the 6 speed plate for the center console, in place for the 4 speed one.let me know how your drive line angles come out.I have the quick time bellhousig, not sure if I can use my stock starter, or go with a mini light starter.keep posting your pics, nice to see, thanks.

is your yoke too close to the passenger side of the tunnel? mine was rubbing with a 1350 yoke

That is what I did with mine. I had an aluminum plate made and put the shifter in the center. I am running a T56 from an 06 GTO and the shifter is further back and in the center. I am also running a VA system with electronic controls so I did not have to worry about the rotary switches. I also have plenty of room for other switches or whatever else is needed.

I will know soon have not got that far, I think there is a smaller yoke that will work, I just cant remember which one it is.I have the yoke number written down, but not with me.as soon as I find will let you know

I made offset mounts to move the engine and trans over a 1/2'' so now it is 1 1/2'' to the passenger side instead of 2'' like stock. The 1350 yoke is centered in the tunnel now and works fine. The pics I have seen look like the yoke is always to the passenger side of the tunnel but no one has said anything about it that I have found.
Did you move the eng and trans mounts over for yoke clearance only, or is there another reason? will that affect the driveshaft alingmnet to the diff in any negative way?
Did you have to clerance the belhousing to the body at the top near the firewall?
I will be doing this conversion with quicktime scattershield on my 71 later in the year so please keep up the detaild install.THANKS!!!

had to be moved over to use a 1350 yoke. if you went with a smaller size yoke it will clear but still really close to pass. side of tunnel because the yoke is further back than before and the tunnel is narrow in that location and was too close to the pass. side from the factory. for the driveshaft my diff is centered in the tunnel so it made mine better cause the output yoke is now centered I have a solid axle in my car and the pan-hard bar can move the diff from left to right as needed. you need to measure from your diff yoke to the tunnel sides and see if yours is centered or not. the quicktime bell has plenty of clearance to the floor didn't have to change anything
I wound up doing the exact same thing with the crossmember as you did. How are the angles transmission/driveshaft/differential? Mine are significantly different, but I feel no vibration at any speed.

my driveshaft angle is real good I lowered the engine a 1/4 when I moved it over and the trans is lower in the cross member because of the drop center. I can change my pinion angle if I need but I haven't driven it yet to see if there is any problems. As for the difference in the angles I didn't check what the angle was with the 4 speed when I took it apart my mind was on other problems at that time. Oh well no going back
I am right in the middle of doing this myself and the crossmember was a big question-mark. Thanks for the great pics!
no problem, I looked at the trans and the frame for about 3 hours before I decided what to do. Then I decided to modify the original instead of building a new one.
