How much of your tunnel and console are you planning to hack out,not going to be an easy fit,the spline count (10 BTW,same as most GM coarse spline trans) is the least of your concerns, not to mention banging your knuckles on the windshield frame when trying to shift it...
It'll physically bolt right up, but as already stated, the shifter is in the middle of the transmission. The T56 shifter is right over the output shaft and comes out in the proper location, just a little to the right of the factory shifter location, thats one of the reasons why we use the T56.
I hate to admit it, but I have an otherwise fully running El Camino with a bad motor and a NV 3500....and a 75 Stingray with a functional L-48 but no brakes, suspension, steering or body mounts....
If the L-48 will just work then I am tempted to swap it into the El C to get a v-8 back on the road and then sort the rest of the Corvette, while saving for a proper engine for her.
I know the accessories and such are different between the two, but those are moved easily enough.
