I am getting ready to start re-plumbing my C3 for a TPI engine. Not a lot of exotic HP, just a daily driver kind of car. I have an in tank elec pump from an '87 C4 and need to put a 5/16 line in the car. Has anyone used the nylon tubing with the quick disconnects ( like the oem stuff)? Any pros or cons? Thanks.

I used the nylon on my 74.
Pro - no corrosion, low cost, able to take high pressure
Con - sharp bends are a problem, have to avoid hot objects like exhaust
If you do need to form some permanent bends or shapes, I found hot water (boiling) best as other heat sources can overheat too quickly.
Fittings are readily available in most parts stores.

Thank you Mr 74. I guess this is not a very popular mod. Sure seems a good way to get a bigger line under the car without removing the body. I'll think this thru a little more.

I just started a FAST EZ TBI conversion. I am going to use two new 3/8" PTFE ss braided fuel lines with a modified '82 sender and Walbro GSS340 pump in the tank. I am going to run the new lines along the frame.

I use the nylon tubing for the run from the fuel tank to the frame / fuel filter and then I run steel lines up to the front and then nylon from the front (frame) to the engine (to absorb any engine movement) and then steel the rest of the way to the TPI fuel rails.

The new style lines can work fine...but it's not that terrible to run hard lines.

Here's an article I did when we did a Holley TBI install on a '65 Vette.

Thanks again for the thuoghts and links. I came across a sending unit for a 82 on ebay with the 5/16.3/8 and 1/4 fitting already in it. Just want to figure he best way to hook up to the tank. an fitting and ptfe hose or plain fuel injector rubber hose. The rubber hose sounds easier, but I've had other Fuel injected cars and had to keep tightening the clamps, epsecially when the weather got cold. Not an easy chore with them above the tank. Or how to hoook the nylon OEM style line to the sending unit. A work in progress going on here. Thanks.

I used a late model in-tank pump module and used the factory quick connect nylon fittings. I would not use the "rubber" hose and worm gear clamp as you said because of problems down the road. With low pressure carb use (to me) it would be OK, but not with the higher pressure for F.I. If you do go that way, use high quality F.I. hose with the correct fuel injection hose clamps - there is a difference.
You have several other options that come to my mind.

Nylon - use nylon to steel compression fittings. Available as I said above at most parts houses.

AN hose - flare the sender fittings and use An braided. May be hard to flare the fittings.

Replace the fittings in the sender with flared or straight new hard line. Remove the old fittings and solder in new hard line to connect to.

You could also use bulkhead fittings, but to me, the more connections you have , the more chance for leaks.
Good Luck
