Why does it have O2 sensors? Was the carb replaced with some sort of fuel injection?
I'm used to newer cars so I thought that there were O2 sensors used with cats. When I looked at exhaust systems for the '74 there appeared to be the openings for O2 sensors on the pipes.
There are also some gundgy wires taped together in the area O2 sensors might have been located. Puzzling out all the changes and 'upgrades" made by PO's on a 41 year old vette are certainly challenging.
I think you need to educate yourself properly on pre-computerized, pre-EFI, pre-HEI cars and stop assuming.
Thanks Mike, That is what I am doing. That is why I come and ask questions. I am new to corvettes and new to GM vehicles. I did build custom 4X4's at my own shop but that was in the early '70's. Later I build and restored '53-'56 Ford trucks. Bear with me as I am a quick learner.

If you were working on cars and trucks since the early 70's, you should already know this.

You're confusing us.
I closed my shop in late '71 and went to work for a local water company. I did not get back to working on cars again until '83 and then I bought a '63 Lincoln Continental Convertible. I never really wrenched on the post '75 cars.
and Mike, the pictures of C3 exhaust with O2 bungs was online as some parts houses, probably was a stock picture they used for all the C3 exhaust listings.

You may have been looking at a generic picture, or you could have been confusing the air tube used in some systems, for the O2 fitting. 75 and later Corvettes with an emission system using an A.I.R. pump, have an air tube installed in the forward "Y" pipe.
A small portion of 80 Corvettes made for sale in California, were the first Corvettes that used an oxygen sensor. From 81 on, all Corvettes had O2 sensors.

What you are looking at is probably the AIR injection ports. Four per manifold. Not O2 bungs.
My wife bought a 1985 Mustang GT w 5 liter. HO brand new back then. That weekend , I sawed out the cat converter , took it down the road to the local bubba exhaust shop. Oh look Billy JOE ..... My converter fell off ......what to do? How about I fix ya up with a dual exhaust ....... Really? lol. ....
Stopped by the local speed shop they Doctored on that little Holly carb a tad . The good ol boys mumbled a few words , couldn't understand a word , they knew exactly what they were doing. As they raced at the local track every weekend.
Ran like a stripped ape......( Carter you know how fast that is !)
