Default LS fuel filter for L98 TPI

I am putting an l98 TPI engine in my '78 S/A. In researching the fuel system plumbing I came across a fuel filter used in 2000-2003 LS engines, that has 3 fitting in it. One supply to the engine, one from the tank and the 3rd is the return line. Seems that the return line goes back into the filter. There is a regulator in the filter itself, setting pressure somewhere around 55 PSI. Has anyone used this set up to eliminate running a new larger return line back to the tank?

The Corvette filter/regulator puts out 58psi. I think the TPI can be run ~40psi.

First the vette filter/regulator is set for 58psi. Check what pressure your TPI requires.
You could loop the return port back to the feed line from the pump. However, this gets the fuel hotter and can lead to issues.
