Default Paint Scheme Opinions

I am trying to finalize my 69 convertible paint scheme.

The primary color is going to be 96 GS Admiral Blue.

I want to add a Silver stripe on a long L88 Hood and the rear deck.

I really like the Blue and Silver combination. They seem to enhance each other.

I would like to maximize the Blue/Silver combination; and my idea is to paint the L88 hood with a Silver solid LT1 Outline Stripe. In addition, I am thinking of painting the hood bulge with a Silver Rally (Baldwin Stripe). My concern is: will this be too much. I really want the paint scheme to look like something that could have come from the factory. The car is going to be a Resto-Mod with a ZZ454 crate motor, Tremec 5sp, and L68 Tri-Power, which should look fairly stock. Keeping a somewhat nostalgic appearance is very important.

What do you guys think?

Has anyone done this before?

p.s. I think the Bulge Stripe would look better if I start it on the flat surface instead of the recessed surface. My hood will be longer than this one so it should look more symmetrical.

Google 2nd generation Automotive Restorations. Stan who is a forum member has done several road race theme C3s and they have different variations of stripes. You may get some ideas to help in your decision.

The colors are different, but a friend of mine has a 68, with a similar paint treatment. The paint job is 45 years old. His father bought the car new and repainted it in 1970, adding the stripe, wheels, hood, Hooker Header sidepipes and flares. The stripe on this car wraps around the rear of the body, similar to a Motion stripe, but he left the taillamp panel green.

Seeing this photo helped me solidify my decision. I am hoping with the Blue/Silver combo, the longer hood, and the roof stripe omitted it should maintain a Camaro RS or Chevelle SS appearance, as shown on the: 2ndgenrestorations.com/ site. In the past I have implemented ideas that I hated when done. My ability to envision is not so good. So thanks for the input.
