Hey guys, searched the forum first and couldn't find my answer. I have a 69 that hasn't been road worthy or inspected in over 17 years and I believe I am only one blinker/brake light away from being legal for inspection. My right rear brake light and blinker doesn't work. I checked the bulb and its good. When I put the blinker on for a right turn the right front light comes on solid but does not blink and the right rear does nothing (does not light up). When I put on the brake the right rear does nothing. When I turn on my hazard lights 3 corners blink except for the right rear. It does nothing. Left front and rear all good and the right front will blink when hazards are on...I don't see any corrosion in the right rear socket and I have cleaned the connection on the bulb and the socket. I haven't tried to manually ground the right rear because it seems that if all the others are working it shouldn't be a ground issue right? I see where the ground is attached to the frame just above the drivers side rear muffler and every thing looks good after that.....thanks for any help....r
have you used a voltmeter to determine if you have power at the socket?
if you have power you then will have to pursue the ground connection starting at the socket.

This morning with the brake depressed I added a ground and still nothing. I also checked it at the same time with a volt meter and still no power....
I'd check the turn signal switch assy in the column
Thanks.. but how does the turn signal switch assy effect the brake light not working.. Maybe a separate issue? Thanks...trying to learn...I will check it because I haven't yet...

Thanks for taking the time to respond...Your comment was helpful and appreciated and may help lead to this light issue being resolved...It seems after finding this other thread that several have had this same problem with the same right rear light...The right rear must be a problem child....thanks..r
OK checked the dark green wire on the harmonica connections with test light and had power on both sides with brake depressed. Then went to right rear brake light socket and still nothing. Disconnected socket from back of light fixture and tested green wire with brake still depressed nothing....Is there another connector between the harmonica connection and the rear of the car to test?
Found broken dark green wire and a light blue one also along with a few fiber optic cables eaten through. Looks like sitting for 17 plus years enable a critter to find a home. I don't know what the light blue wire went to but its hooked up now also. THANKS GUYS FOR ALL OF YOUR ASSISTANCE IT BY FAR MADE THIS JOB EASIER..... Ready for inspection and maybe a little Victory lap or two
Another C3 becomes road worthy... Now for cosmetics.....
Ok.. Update... Thanks guys you really helped me alot. I hope I can return the favor to someone some day....IT PASSED INSPECTION! woohoo...
However, during my so called Victory lap a few new problems decided to rear thier ugly faces. My temp gauge was running a rock solid 190 and then went south and pegged out. Made me think it was over heating...Not....I think this issue is fixed. I will test it tomorrow. So I open the hood to check the temp of car and see brake fluid coming out of the master cylinder lid...Dang. I order a new gasket. Hope that cures that issue. And my dash light no worky....I will test rheostat tomorrow. Also my tach is not working but I knew that already and will start to diagnosis it too. But it did pass inspection. And that was the first goal. It actually went for a 5 mile ride on the road for the first time in over 17 years.....
Note: I couldn't believe the attention this old ride got. Everyone wanted to check it out even though she is no beauty queen....
