Default Installing a rev limiter?

I have the original distributor on my 467 motor, with Pertronix electronic guts, question is I would like to put a MSD box with a rev limiter on, will it work with the existing ignition or do I need a new system? I am worried that sometime my foot is going to stay down and go pass the redline of 6400. Once my engine hits 5000 rpms its like a hit a nitrous button!

MSD 6AL should work fine with your distributor.

Go digital. Something without chips to plug in. The Crane units look nice.

I have the Crane unit in my car wit hthe original dist. My unit is triggered by a set of heavy duty points. No electrical current run through them so they should last a long time. I have my limiter set at 7K and my shift light at 6600. I have bounced it off the limiter a couple of times. It is cheap insurance against a blown motor.

Thanks guys, I will check out the Crane unit in Jegs. I was out for a drive tonight and was running up about 6000rpm on several shifts, big time fun but it seems like it wants to keep going. On my info sheet on the Crane powermax cam it lists valve float at 6500rpm, sure dont want to do that! :U

I just installed the MSD 6AL and Blaster2 today, last week put in the Ignitor2. They work quite well together, the MSD site has a page dedicated to hooking up to the Pertronix unit.
