I just came back from a cruise downtown to pick up 1- 10 cent screw for the door handle. Anyway, I'm driving along at about 35 mph and I catch some movement off to the right side. There were about 10 kids probably 8 -10 years of age running as fast as they could towards the road. OK, I'm thinking 'evasive manuevers coming' and 'how the hell am I going to dodge all these kids?'. Just as I'm about to fill the air with brake and tire smoke, they all stop at the curb, throw me thumbs up and yell "nice car". So I give them a little wave and try to get the 'panic' look off my face and replace it with the 'cool' look.
Funny thing is I can remember doing the same thing when I was a kid.
"I may be getting older but I will never grow up. Big Boys' Toys."
I have had a number of similar experiences. And quite frankly I do not understand them. But the young ones sure do appreciate the shape of the C3. What really puzzles me is that they recognize it as a Corvette. At the age of 8-10 years where does that recognition factor come from? C3s are not common on TV....
I drove my shark today. As I was leaving from dropping my 7 year old daughter off at her summer art class this morning 2 similar aged boys in the crosswalk with their Mom said "WOW, look at the race car!"

I think it comes from Mattel Hot Wheels. I had a bunch of them as a youngster and I could point them out on the street.
A few weeks ago my son (24) and I stopped at Blockbuster. A boy about 12 was getting in a SUV with his (hot) mom. The boy said "Mom lets beat these guys up and take their Corvette". (I figured on my son to fight the boy. :bb )
I have loved the shape of the C3 since the first time I saw one. Which was when I was in 4 th grade when I when to my first cruise in at a local gas station. I saw that car and told my dad that on day I would own one. Hope fully soon :yesnod:
This brought back a memory from about a week ago, I was taking the scenic route through the subdivisons on the way to my mom's house. There's some boys on the side of the road riding their bikes, they stop once they hear me coming to watch me go by. One of them yells "Is that an L-88?" I just waved as I went by not thinking much about it until a block later when I thought, How did that boy know about L-88 vettes? I guess he must of had a parent or relative that was into vettes. I almost turned around to ask him where he learned about L-88's but decided against it. Guess I should be flattered, confusing my mild LS-4 for an L-88 :D
