Hello to all, I am a new owner of a 78 vette and loving it! Flew out to Reno
2 weeks ago to pick it up, I have many questions but the first is this. Located just under the steering column is a plate, sticking out of that plate
is a black ****(for lack of a better word). This **** is connected to a vaccum block with one yellow striped and one blue striped hose. Can anyone tell me what that is? My vette is a 43 thousand mile car with I believe a lot of options, more on that later. Looking forward to talking with a lot of you. Thanks
Just pull that **** down toward the floorboard with the engine running and it will raise your headlight doors without having the lights on. Original use was for winter driving when they may have gotten iced closed. You should get the owners manual reprint for about $10. It will explain all your controls, etc. Good luck.
Congrats, 78, and welcome to the best car tool I have found in working on cars for about 40 years (Mounds View '65). I just put some rubber on my headlite raisers and now they go up!! The bypass vacuum headlite raiser you speak of is for when you have to change a headlite bulb and would prefer they were not lit and hot ! Stevo 81 :seeya
