The other night I took the Air Filter Unit off just to look at the carb and choke, etc. Didn't touch anything or adjust any screws. After I put it back on my idle went from 600-700 RPMS to 1000-1100 RPMs. What could I have possible done. Then this morning I ran to Target and back. when I got home and shut off the engine, it stayed "running" for about another 15 seconds. Any ideas what I could have done and how I can fix it? Thanks...

Ok....did that and it is back to 600 RPMs, and shut right off....is 600 low for a 4 speed manual? I really need a tune up....nervous about trying it myslef....

Sounds like you were binding up on your Choke linkage. Be carefull with that when you put it back on. As for the idle, 600 is not a really low idle. It is documented what is recommended, but that would be with Vac lines disconnected and plugged. I believe in Tune-ups... Plugs are cheap compared to the price of Gas. But if you do not know what you are doing, might want to have someone there that does to keep you honest and riding again in short order.

You have an idle stop solenoid on the car? If so, you may have done something, loose connection or ????. If it kept running after turn off it may be the solenoid isn't releasing like it's supposed to.

[/QUOTE] I think the choke rod needs a little shot of WD/40. Run on is common with a rich idle condition.600 idle is about right after the choke kicks out.[
