Well....got some bad news tonight, so the wife and I went for what was to be a relaxing drive in the Vette. S2000 pulled up beside me, and revved his engine....so we took off (was doing about 65 at the time). He took off, but I quickly caught up and passed him around 110....
Came to a stop light where he just crushed me....my exit was less than a 1/4 mile ahead so I didn't have a chance to catch him again....
He had this thing all mod out, wouldn't be surprise if he had nirto in it as well.....
Still, was enough to make my night a little worst, but I realized I've had my car for less than 3 weeks....badly needs a tune up and some other work done on it.....Gave me a little incentive to get it all done though.
I do not know why Corvette people worry about these things. A Pontiac Bonneville 3.8L with Supercharger can outpace a C3 easily. Or for that matter a Buick LeSabre. They pump out 240hp. My 1979 is rated at 225hp. So watch for Grandpa in that Buick....

Re: S2000 Beat Me..... =\ [Rant] (bsowa)
I read all the posts about how everyone runs somebody and on the rare occassion when they don't win they are heartbroken. :cry
I never run anybody. If someone races their engine and looks over, I just give'm the ol one raised eyebrow, laugh and continue on my way.
The way I figure it, I'd rather let my car intimidate them and let them wonder for miles on end if they were faster or not.
So don't be sad if they get away... laugh because they will go thru the radar trap first and get a ticket to an event they would rather not support.

I couldn't agree more. At least bsowa got beat by a sports car. I got beat by a Ford Lightning PICKUP :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry
Oh well!
Our vettes can always have more horsepower added. It's much harder to give some of these other cars the looks or personality of a vette! Usually in doing so, you wind up with a riced out car :D
Agree with Justin. alot has happended with technology in 25 years. Question is will that S2000 be around and look as good as our C3's? Will it have a huge parts bin (Ecklers/ MA/ ZIP/ SUMMIT etc. etc. I DOUBT IT.
C3's were cool back then are now and will be 50+ years from now. Don't comapre your C3 to a new car, it's like comparing a HOG to a new rice bike, completely different animal. By the way you can easily beat them. Read all the topics from Merlin and others like them speed is directly proportional to $$$, it's up to you and your wallet.
Don't feel bad, bsowa. That rice motor will probably BLOW UP within the next 15,000 miles running like that. You will still get your 150K miles out of your 454....... Those rice motors aren't designed to take a beating like that OVER and OVER and OVER again!!!!!

Couldn't agree more! I liked to let them wonder too. Always some yahoo thinks they gotta prove it at every stop lite. Particularly every young 'en in a modern Mustang. One girl in a Blue new T/A around Plano also seems h*ll bent on running me.
Do occasionally let them jump on it off the light (sometimes I just can't resist it.) I get "the other woman" rollin' as they are pulling away, then stomp her from 2 or so car lengths back. Love to see there faces as I scream past 'em then back off for the next light. Most are a little more circumspect (and quieter) waiting for it to change to green again. :yesnod:
I'm not much of a fan of street racing but realize it is very common. However, to subject your wife to a 110 mph race, well that's not cool. Sorry if I offend you but I just don't get it.
I took a ride from Boston down to the NCM in early April in my bud's S2000. We did 200 miles on the Blue Ridge Parkway each way and ran the "Dragon" at Deals Gap. What a fun trip! Now it's his turn to ride in my 82 to Carlisle.
