"Hi Perf Pass" I found this stamped on the side of my block on the drivers side. Is this of any signifigance, It's a matching numbers block. I figured all LS-4's were two bolt mains, would this indicate anything different? Thanks for any info on this, just something I was curious about.
"HIPERF" or "HIPER" was used on ALL '65-'91 Mark IV big block blocks and is not an indication that it has four bolt main caps and was used in a high performance application. Two-bolt, low performance big blocks received the same "HIPERF" designation.
You mean it doesn't make your car faster like stickers on a ricer? :jester
Nope. But it sure makes you a Cruise Night Hero. Make sure to highlight those letters with white paint and point to them often when people are standing around.
I never thought I'd have to disagree with Motec but ... I believe that the base 325 hp 396's were NOT marked "Hi Perf Pass"(high performance passenger) but I'm not sure what the truck blocks were marked. All 427 blocks were Hi Perf Pass. While the 2 and 4 bolt hi perf pass blocks had the same webbing at the crank mains and could accomodate either 2 or 4 bolts, the base non hi perf pass block was a 2 bolt only.
