This is on my 77. So changed out my leaking heater core and now putting everything else back and here's what has been changed new h/ll switch, new low fuel module. Now when I start the car the volt gauge doesn't move but if I turn on the h/l the volt gauge goes up to where it always used to and then if I turn the lights back off the gen light comes on. I removed the fuel light module(there wasn't one there before the core change) but nothing changed still getting the same issue. Everything worked fine to begin with so I assume it's something dumb that I've done, any ideas? Also are there any symptoms associated with a bad circuit board?

Does your alternator light come on before you start the car ?
Did you need to remove the center cluster guage panel. If you did then the connector on the back of the cluster has a poor / broken connector for the alternator warning light. If this is the case you also will not be getting a proper output from the alternator to charge your battery.
Gen light doesn't come on before starting car. Center cluster was out as I had the whole dash out for various repairs while doing the core. I will go back out in a bit and unplug the cluster and see if anything changes
