So here are some pictures from the assembly. Sorry I did not get all the pictures of us doing the technical stuff. My hands had oil on them most of the time. I usually build my motors alone with out people around LOL
Motor is a .040 over 10.7:1 compression with a baby mechanical roller cam in the .640 lift range duration is around 240 @.050 on 110c
For 75 he doesn't look too bad huh? He got me into this crap when I was a kid. Later as I got older he gave me a hard time for ripping all my cars apart to modify them. As I got older I raced In a heavy class before going to Funny Cars. My Dad always came to the local events to video each run for me and help on the car. I wished I took him on some of the road trips but.....I'm sure he wouldn't have approved of all the shenanigan's to go along with it.
I can tell there are lots of stories between the two of you. Treasure all the time you spend together and someday you can share those stories with your kids. Like, remember when we used to clean the parts with GASOLINE, Leaded no less!
yup many stories....like when I 'stole' his 65 Vette to race some other kid LOL he wasn't happy for some reason.
yeah that was over 30 years ago now.
leaded fuel??? yeah my kids still laugh when I told them we actually had fuel attendants that would check your fluids, tires while pumping fuel. and Super was actually over 100 octane!!
my oldest is going to be 27 and the youngest 25

Yes, definitely enjoy these good times while they last. My dad (83) guided me thru my first few rebuilds, and wholeheartedly supported my racing efforts from the word go. Fortunately, he was able to make the trip for a number of events during the years when I was traveling the RR circuit. So, I'd give just about anything to get my shark back together in time for him to ride shotgun with me again.
Here are a couple more shots of the assembly Here we are checking the Piston for TDC on number #1 the next picture is checking the cam with a degree wheel. What isn't shown was checking the piston to deck which is .007 and the piston to valve clearance. Attachment 47872568
You guys build a nice motor! Does he yell at you to put the camera down and pay attention???

Does He???...... My Dad Did!! He actually threw in a few extra words as we were pulling the body off the frame and I started to snap a few pictures !!! Awsome pictures!!!

No he doesn't yell much never did. I told him I was sending the pictures to Mom to actually show that he wasn't lifting anything heavy. I live 45 minutes away from them and she called me to remind me that he is in his 70's and not to let him lift anything heavy. I promised I wouldn't but then asked how he is still able to move his Road King around and still shovel Manure everyday? No answer
