i am looking at an add for "block hugger headers" in Corvette Fever magazine...I was going to purchase new exhaust manifolds (stock style) because I didn't want to do anything too exotic...would the block hugger headers be a good option for me? they look a little bit less outrageous than standard headers. also, would these perform better than stock manifolds?

Re: block hugger headers (eleven79)
I bought mine for the very reasons you have posted. I also looked for the best set I could find and came up with a set from SANDERSON Header Co. They are on the NET. JIM

Re: block hugger headers (trw)
I have a set of '81 SS Shorty Exhaust Manifolds that will probably bolt up to you existing pipes for $50 plus the ride. Should be the same as all 2" '73-'81. These are off of an '81. JIM
I have Sanderson QP1001's. They were on my car when I bought it, along with a new exhaust, so I don't know how they would line up with a fctory system. I sandblasted mine and treated them with some manifold dressing last year and they still look real good. Real thick flanges(7/16"), but I'm not sure I agree with the no gasket needed info. My heads have round exhaust ports, and the Sandersons are square. I kept getting little pinhole leaks when I just used sealer, so I went ahead and installed round port gaskets, and they have been leak free ever since. Sorry for the crappy photo's, but they're all I have. I don't know how they stack up against long tube headers in performance, but they have 1 1/2" primaries and 2 1/2" collecters.
