Ebay :( buddy got ripped
A buddy of mine (for those that read the topic about the tour w/ the disabled kids, it was Smokey ;) http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=357155 ) bought a carb & intake from a guy called greatchevyparts.
IT took kind of long so I told smokey to email the guy. He got a reply that his stuff had somehow been lost in the mail and he would send another set FOC and he would deal w/ insurance or retrieving the lost stuff
As was to be expected, nothing happened. No carb.. no intake... no big brown truck, just an empty wallet.
Smokey mailed the guy and of course no reply, all of a sudden his Ebay feedback sheet is private viewing only.. he has something to hide. This fine example of a low down scumbag is supposedly called Mike Sleeth, w/ mike_sleeth@hotmail.com as his email addy (probably bogus). Greatchevyparts is his Ebay name. His old email was greatchevyparts@hotmail.com
Do NOT do business with him.
After complaining w/ ebay & paypal this is paypal's reply... note the last line.

PayPal knows EXACTLY who this stinker is. It's not like ol'Smokey is doing some time on water & bread but any money lost is sad, especially since it was Mod-Money :)

It's not the money that pisses me off, but being helpless to do anything about it. :mad :mad :mad
I've send a nother e-mail to paypal and asked them to send me his adress and/or phone number so i can contact him, but I don't think they will send it to me.

ebay should be covering his loss up to a certain amount:
If the item price is $500, you are eligible to receive $175;
If the item price is $100, you are eligible to receive $75;
If the item price is $26, you are eligible to receive $1.
I know that doesn't solve the problem but the forum can help there by crushing the sellers auctions. A few people helped me in that way during my ebay mess.
Paypal does suck and so does safeharbor. They both support Ebay who supports the sellers.

You just reminded me of a modem I won at auction over two months ago on Ebay that I still have not received. After reading this post, I email the guy asking for my modem or a refund. Thanks for the reminder!

I would never buy anything used without seeing it in person. And that way if you pay for it, it is in your possession. I buy very few used parts however, I have poor luck with used items.

Twinnie...I took the liberty of emailing greatchevyparts this thread to see if I could stir some kind of action. No, I don't know who this is, I just worked it using ebay. Here's his reply to me;

Personally i feel whole ebay is just well covered "wild west" .Its so easy to get ripped off or receive wrong/bad goods.And you really cant do anything.
Its too easy to hide behind multiple nics and email addresses.I have lost under 50 bucks so far and cant think of baying anything over 200 there any more .
Do you remember "carbed C4" topicks? Guy praise him self at feedbacks wich he had wrote ... so far for trusting spotless feedbacks..
