I would just go ahead and replace the tank. You have to pull it to use the sealer so all the work is already done so why not replace it with a new tank instead of a temp fix to an old tank.

2 years ago I used the Eastwood system to seal up the gas tank on my 72's tank. I had it out already so figured I might as well seal it. The tank didn't have rust in it and probably would have been ok to reuse as it was. It is a multi step process, but not hard. Of course a new tank is around $200.

I have used the eastwood product a number of times and was very satisfied with the results. I repaired a number of fuel tanks for both cars and bikes . I recently used it to line an integral tank in a large casting that was porous . I give it a thumbs up !
