Default Power Steering Hose Replacement

In january I replaced the pressure hose on the power steering pump due to it leaking at the control nalve. I couldn't tighten the new hose completely at the control valve. The line wrench will not go around the pressure line fitting because the smaller return line fitting is practically touching the larger fitting. (removed the old pressure hose line fitting by cutting the line and unscrewing with a socket/ratchet) Trying to remove the smaller fitting firstI have the same issue.
My question is how has everyone removed these line (s)?
In frustration, I cut the P/S belt (that sure stopped the leak)

Take the big one off and tighten the small one first.

I just replace my control valve on my 1974. I had bought my flare wrench at local big box store. Turns out the head diameter of the wrench is just a bit to big and bumps into the adjacent connection. A friend of mine had a wrench that had a smaller head and it fit perfectly and was able to tighten all the flare connections.

The only two suggestions I have is to ground down the wrench you have, or purchase one from a Snap On dealer. The Snap On is the one my friend loaned me.

Also make sure the flat side of the adjacent fitting is point to the one you are trying to install and tighten.
