I was reading through the specifications and it mentions that the engine was a 427 with SOHC heads, now this is because Chevy never had SOHC, ford had the "cammer" 427 SOHC that came in the GT-40 but that was it.
BTW I thought the Le-Mans racer was this one, and it was a vert with a hard top. Not a coupe
Good eyes! You are absolutely right that the specs are incorrect. SOHC was indeed a Ford item. The pictures look correct however. Anyway, although the C3 Vettes were seriously out numbered by many other models of cars (i.e. 911's, etc.) both privately prepared and pure factory efforts, there were several of them, maybe half a dozen, that did compete at LeMans. This car should not be confused with the Heinz car or Greenwood's.

p.s. I am also a little supicious on the gear ratio quoted. 2.96 doesn't sound right. I think the lone 67 L88 entry ran with 3.08's. C3's used 2.73's or as in the case of the Heinz car, 2.56's. The lower numerical final gearing is what I believe allowed for the Heinz car's higher top speed of 212mph while keeping the revs low for prolonged engine life. RedVette Racer may have more to input on this.
