Default '78 seat foam content

Handled my original seat foam today without gloves and now my hands feel like i've been working with the pink fiberglass insulation all day. I've handled foam from other seats without any issues. Did Chevy use some nasty new fiberglass material for these seat foams? I want to tear my skin off and not really sure I want to sit in these seats. Was only going to use them until I could afford new foams and covers. Nasty stuff.

It's foam, not fiberglass. It breaks down with age. I have no idea what it was made of. Obviously, something in it's makeup does like you.

My 77 was just foam. Had no such reaction to it. Sounds like you're sensitive to something in it though. Maybe some fiberglass got into it from a re-paint or from some body work?

While I don't do the installs myself any longer, I've handled probably as much foam as anyone on this forum over the years, I've never had this issue.

Check with your Doctor. It sounds like you might have a latex allergy. Don't just let it go as you seem to get better. It could be an initial sign of a real hidden problem.
