The bolts that I just took out of my calipers are 2 1/2 under the head and 1 1/4 shoulder with 5 marks and a triangle. Most of these calipers have been resleeved at one time and I would think they would put new bolts in I believe the five marks signify grade 5.

I just looked at your bolt and that is the one that bolts the caliper to bracket mine is the bolts the two halves together.

And even so, why not try to upgrade while you can.
It shouldn't be too hard to get the correct shoulder length and cut some threads off with a hacksaw and file to make pretty, if needed.
Anyway, either way should hold.
The diagram in in the AIM shows a bolt with more thread than shoulder, just like those pictured previously. The vendors who offer shouldered bolts (most don't) for this application all show bolts with more thread than shoulder. The previous owner gave me a list of everything he did to the car, including replacing the left front and right rear calipers. These bolts came from the LEFT Rear. So, unless a different previous owner replaced the left rear at some point, I can only assume that the bolts I removed were the originals from the factory. Can I be certain? Of course not.

As for making the bolts... As I said I don't have the equipment for that. I don't have a bench vice or such to hold a bolt while I cut it to length, or files to deburr the cut. As long as the full-thread bolts I received in my order will meet the threshold of "safe to use", I can overlook that they are not 'ideal'.

Yes, the bolts I'm talking about are the mounting bolts, not the caliper half assembly bolts. I replaced my caliper entirely so those bolts were not an issue.

Find the old guy with the worn out looking Chevrolet work shirt in the parts department.
Did you see this post??? They are a stock dealer item. Cheap, under $1.50 each

I did see your post. I chose to order from a vendor instead because I needed to order other parts too. Brakes arent the only thing I'm working on, and the dealer wouldn't have had the piston retainer tool for sale anyway.

The vendor sent me the wrong bolts, but even if they hadn't they'd still not be right for the application. None of the vendors have bolts with the proper long shoulder. Do the bolts you got at the dealer have a much longer shoulder than the ones I've posted photos of? I'd love to see them because I'd be willing to pay IF they have the right length of shoulder. None of the bolts I have seen do.

I have tomorrow afternoon off, thanks to the holiday. I'll see about going by a dealer and chatting with their parts dept. Maybe I'll be able to see the bolts before buying them.

I think the shoulder on the bolt is important. These bolts do have a "bolt" like function in mating the caliper to the bracket, but they also have a "pin" function to keep the caliper from moving laterally when the brakes are applied. I think you need a bolt with a "shoulder;"i.e a shaft to operate in the pin function. I'd think a Corvette salvage yard would be a good solution. Also, what about Stainless Steel Brake Corporation? They sell aluminum calipers that are virtual duplicates of the Delco cast iron calipers and their bolts would probably work also.
