After adjusting the distributor with the engine running, I closed the hood--dropping it from a height of ~12 inches. When the hood snapped shut, the car died. Now, the car will not start, battery is still 12.3V, but the only thing that works is the horn. Everything else is dead.

Earlier in the day the car had been sputtering at highway speeds--like it needed a new fuel filter, H20 in the gas. The unexplained or weird effect happened twice as the car sputtered: the seat belt light came on, and I pushed the button to turn it off. When the car stumbled again, the seat belt turned on.
