Over the winter, "my guy" put in some new clutch pedal bushings. He more or less stored it for 3 months
First issue- when I finally drove it home, the tach had the ticking sound I've read about and the needle now bounces at idle. It's got a new tach cable and rebuilt distributor. Cable was lubed according to my other guy who did the restoration. Do you think this is still just a lubrication issue?
Second issue - This morning when I was leaving for work I noticed the blue "Brights" light indicator did not come on. It is the only bulb that isn't working. Bulbs are a little over a year old.
It feels like the wire and socket are still in place on the back of the speedometer. Is it possible this is the dimmer switch? If I have to replace just this bulb, could I get away with just having to lower the column and tilting the dash enough to get to that socket?
Thanks all.

1. what did he lubricate the cable with and what end and how much did he put on?
2. before assuming it is the bulb did you check the highbeams to see if they come on?

He uses the graphite stuff. How much - I haven't got that information from him yet.
Just to put an end to this thread, and in case anyone else has this problem, yes, you can change the bulb for the bright light indicator in the speedometer by dropping the steering column (I used a long skinny bolt and a nut in the regular bolt hole to support the column) and then tilting the dash down. I was just able to get my hand around to the back of the speedo and unplug the socket. Somehow, the bulb had exploded.
Be careful when reinstalling the dash that the speedo trip reset cable doesnt get wedged in a 90 degree angle on a brace.
AS for the ticking tach - I unplugged the cable from the back of the tach by pressing down on the tab with a long flat screwdriver and having my wife pull on the cable from the firewall side. There was little bit of debris on the tip of the drive cable, so I wiped it off and inserted it and the ticking was gone.
