Default 427 piston choices, help please.

Hi, starting the build of a 435 hp engine to run on street gas. Seems after talking to people that using either the 390/400 hp piston configuration made by either Speedpro or Keith Black are a good choices. These are the 10.25 to 1 pistons. I will match these to the 106 cc heads (435 hp heads). Originally, the 390/400 hp heads were 101 cc heads that yielded the 10.25 to 1 compression. I am told this combination combined with the factory 435 hp camshaft is a very nice combination that will drive on pump gas. Any experience with this out there or any opinions/advice appreciated. Goal is to make a very nice running 435 hp engine. I am not interested in breaking things. I am interested in good performance and solid lifter sound and running on 3x2 carbs. Thanks!

I'd use the 11.0 pistons and tune accordingly. Unless everything is minimized compression won't be near 11.0. Better actually cc those heads. They grow a lot over the years after valvejobs and most didn't ck that tight when new.

You also have to check the lo-perf pistons closely in the valve pockets depending on cam. They weren't designed for 2.19 valves and can get real cozy on the edge of the of the valve pocket.

if you drop compression...it would be a great time to re-look at cam choice to gain the power back and actually pick it up a lot.
