Question about strut rod bushing replacement
This is probably such an obviously stupid question but I will ask it anyway, since the more I look at it the more I just don't get it. I pulled my rear this weekend to send it out and have the gears changed. I noticed that the strut rod bushings looked pretty worn, so I figured let me replace them. I looked them up to order and noticed one vendor sells the original ones at like $17 each. I need 4. (this isn't the dumb part). that's 68 for a set. I also see they sell a polyurethane set for $30. I was under the imprecision polyurethane was better. Am I wrong? That was the dumb question

I prefer poly for the simple reason that you can usually push them in without a press as they use the older rubber bushing sleeves left in place. I get the old rubber bushings out by drilling out the rubber of the bushing.

there will be many opinions as to being wrong or not.... i have had the polys in my 79 for 6 years now no problems. i did grease them with lubricant that came with them. just make sure you use the special shouldered washers too. volvette.com has the rubber bushings for $12....good luck...
