Just a bit of info for those with Hooker sidepipes that are considering STEEROIDS or vice versa. On my car I had to significantly dimple the #1 header tube to clear the u-joint. Other than that and grinding the tie rod bracket, it was all gravy! :yesnod:
As for me I have Stahl's side pipe headers with 2 1/8" primary tubes and guess what it cleared the whole R&P system perfectly, tightest spot is where the old steering box used to be. No problems here!
Nastee, I have commented on this sh ituation before....all anyone designing anyting aftermarket for any car is the stock configuration...to encompass every other design out there is impossible....your thing there is typical of what happens in the hotrod industry...change ONE thing, and chances are, somewhere down the road...some thing else is affected...
but of course from the sound of it seemingly it's a small ding...not cutting pipes are rerouting them...
I ding all header pipes to fit the bolts in the flange easily....I"m not fighting it for 1/10th of one HP.....if you get my drift.... :D :D
I posted this before when I installed the steeroids kit. This picture is the finished modification. You can see the discoloration of the heating and hammering of the tube that was touching.

Thanks for sharing . . . So there's no other option? Really sucks that it has to be in such a visable location.
It's not really visable. Yes you can see it good in the picture because the body is off. But with the body on someone looking straight down are going to be blinded by the shine on the headers to notice. :D
