I am trying to figure out where this wire that is cut and resting on the alternator on my '79 should go. In looking at my wiring diagram best I could tell it goes to the side marker lamps, but my lamps work. It seems too far forward to be the alarm, which I don't think works. Any help is appreciated!
Black wire with the in line fuse holder is not stock. Can't tell what has the electricians tape around it. The widget on the fender skirt is suspicious. The yellow wire is not stock unless that's a plug wire.
My WAG would be a prior owner wanted a power connection to the alternator at some point.

Let me look a little further today. I know there is a little blue LED light under the dash the previous owner put in and maybe this wire has something to do with that.
The yellow wire is a plug wire so that's fine. The wire is blue and is connected to a red wire which goes into the flexible wire hose with all the other wires.
Best advice I can give is to get the electrical wireing diagram then remove the flex wire hose and trace. It is a pain to do, but worth it if you have a bubba wire.
In a recent electrical expiation on my 68,I discovered 6 wires that literally didn't go anywhere. Started at one end of the flex and ended at the other. I guess been put in over the years for something, then cut off and taped up when no longer needed.

My money is on the bet it's a car alarm and associated wiring.
