Default C3 body mount cushion #4 advice

I need some assistance on replacing the drivers side #4 body isolator/mount on my '75. It took the vehicle in for a safety inspection and they flagged it (I need to fix it to pass).

I've searched the forums and it seems to be a PITA. My questions:

1. Do I need to lift the body to replace just the cushion. I searched the forum and read if you cut the mount you can side it out.
2. Should I just cut the bolt or attempt to unscrew the bolt and risk shearing the rivets on the cage nut.
3. Will I need to replace/repair the mount itself (due to damage during removal)?

Any help or suggestions please.

If you cut the back of the mount off slightly you can sneak it into place without lifting the body.

here's how I did mine without lifting and only a medium amount of bubba

I think I also explained how to bubba a 1-1/2 square tube into a tool to help protect the caged nut

Thanks. When I searched the forums I did see your previous posts. Just wanted some clarification on the body lift.

When you say cut the "back" of the mount, I assume you mean towards the rear of the car?

Also if I break the cage nut rivets, do I have to remove the outer bracket to access the cage nut rivets?

Yes, it's the shorter one that goes up between the mount and the rear of the fender.

I believe the only way to install new cage rivets is from the top. IIRC access from the bottom is pretty limited with the frame there. Seems to me someone said that support was installed prior to the body drop onto the rear floor sections

If you are not worried about being original, you can uses a bolt , washer and a lock nut, instead of changing the cage nut.

Thanks, I will probably do that. I am not concerned (in this particular case). And I read other from other posts on this topic that I could use a hardware store bolt instead of ordering a copy from one of the Corvette suppliers. Basically, it sounds like I just need to order the rubber (or poly?) isolator.

Actually that's a big help because now I don't care about the cage nut!
