So, a bestie from the ole College Hooligan days wants to offload her 77 orange coupe. T-Top L48 Auto. 35k Her uncle, who she bought it from was the original owner.
I know they arent worth much, but what do you guys think iI should tell her? The paint is excellent except for the bumpers where its beginning to fade. Interior is also excellent.

Ive considered buying it for my wife as a toy, but not sure i want to deal with a 77 and smog in Cali.

A very original car in excellent shape would be worth more than $6.5k. If it needs mechanical attention, missing factory parts, body damage and such it could be worth less. Hard to know without making an objective appraisal of what is true about the car.
Unless it has a rusted frame and birdcage, its definately worth $6,500 and more. If the underneath is pretty clean, $ 9,000 to 10,000 is average for that condition.
If the smog controls and carb are all original, you got a fair deal! Being in Califoria, you are forced to find cars unmolested, although we didn't see the engine bay...
