If a fusible link opens, odds are very good you cant visually tell. If it is open, it will be one of the red wires, and you can usually tell by giving it a slight "tug". if it's open, you'll usually feel a springy motion which is the rubber sleeve covering the actual fusible link. The purple wire sends 12 volts when the key is in the start position only. That can be checked BEFORE it hits the neutral safety switch for 12 volts while under cranking. Do this at the ignition switch. The mere fact you can energize the solenoid tells me that's not the problem. Sounds like the key in start position isn't getting the 12 volts to the starter solenoid. Process of elimination.
1. It all starts at the ignition switch, driven by a mechanical key cylinder. Probably won't have to go much further. Did the neutral safety switch have 12 volts on the purple wire while in the cranking mode? If not, back up to the ignition switch! Good luck!
the only way i have been able to get anything to happen is to connect a remote starter switch. connect one wire to the big terminal the other to the small terminal then pull the trigger and the motor turned over. you mentioned the fusible link is on a red wire where would it come from and what would it go to.??

The battery connection on the starter should have 2 smaller (10ga) wires connected to it in addition to the battery cable. The fusible links are normally within the first 6-8 inches of those 2 wires- just above the starter.

Thank you soo much for the info . i had no idea where to look for the fusible link ..after it quits raining i am going to pull the starter and find it...you have been very helpful ... I love this forum all you guys are great !!!
Thank You for the pic now i know what i am looking for !!!
No problem, if it turns out to be your problem, should be able to find locally, jury is still out but many think it should be replaced by with the fusible wiring, others use an inline fuse, check threads for reasonings,
If you can't find wire I have a roll, I'll send you a piece maybe save some shipping
