The Edelbrock performer intake is hard to beat for a stock motor. As for headers any brand with 1 5/8 tubes and a good free flowing exhaust with good mufflers will help. I have used Hooker Comp headers and they fit well and have good access to the plugs.

Next you got to decide if you want long tube or short tube for headers. Lots of opinions on that. do some google searches and see what meets you needs best.
In either case I would get them ceramic coated to keep under-hood temps down if you can afford it.

I do not think you will see much of a difference in power between your stock qjet intake and an edelbrock performer. I would save your money for a cam upgrade.

with headers the intake will have more benefit. get Lars' papers for timing and carburetor set up. then look to heads and cam.
on later model engines im not a proponent of a cam change without some type of upgrade in the cylinder head department, thats where BIG things happen power wise.

Edelbrock Performer intakes are cheap. To me, the weight savings alone is enough to justify the swap.

Edelbrock performer and long tube hookers with a better flowing exhaust and mufflers. You should see anywhere from 15-25 hp difference. The intake and exhaust manifolds weight less than stock, almost half. That helps also. Then if you want a bunch more hp, change the cam and heads.

I just added a performer to my vette. along with the hedman sidepipes I already had, I can notice a difference over stock.
