Just got the new issue of Vette Vues (Sept 02) and it list the cars on sell at the Bloomington Gold Auction. It show a Red 1973 Convertible that sold for $35,000. I have never seen a '73 go for that high of a price. Anyone know anything about this car?
It was sold on ebay the week before Bloomington for $30,000. I believe it is very low mileage, like 7100 miles. I have some more info on it at home. It had the same trim tag date as my Corvette so I was trying to get some info on it from the owner.

When I had my 73 coupe appraised a couple of years ago I was told by the appraiser that a concorse #1 73 vert would be worth about 21k. Someone must have really wanted that one. I bet its a real nice car.
WOW! $35,000 that is $20,000 most than I paid and it was over priced. Maybe this clunker was worth it after all. :)
Maybe people are starting to realize just how unique these 73 are sorta along the lines for the 63 split window. Sounds crazy but if one went for $35,000 then must be something to it.
Any car that has a very noticible and unique feature tends to appreciate in value compared to other models years that all look similar. What makes the 63 split any diff than the 64, 65 or 66 other than the split window? Granted the engines in the 73 where smogged and not high performance but line up a vette from model years 68 to 79 where you only see them from the side and tell me which one is going to stand out the most? Ones with all chrome, no 4 of them have that feature. The ones with all rubber, no 6 of those. Hey that one has chrome and rubber, that is unique. That's all I am saying. Don't ever think 73 will be worth what a 63 is worth but it does have a very obvious and unique look that sets it apart from every other model year. All vettes are  some just look diff than others.

As PT Barnum said: there is a sucker born every minute and I hope I find one when I decide to sell my car someday.... I can get into selling a car for about 10 times what they are worth, of course beauty in eye of beholder and same can be said for price of car, worth whatever you are willing to pay for what you want :D :D
Wow!!! Quite a bit for an L-48/auto car!!!! At first when I saw this post, I thought it may have been the 4,000mi Red '73 454 roadster Corvette Mike had "Survivored" back when I had my '74 "Survivored" at Bloomington in '94. Thought maybe this car had resurfaced and was being passed from collector to collector as which is what happens alot with these "low mile museum?" cars.
No historical significance? Maybe owned by someone famous? That is way to much for that car, or most any 73, although it does look very nice. Someone had money to burn.
