I have a 80 vette that I absolutely love. The problem is the seats recline so much. Does anybody have a solution for that, or are there replacement seats that allow you to sit up straighter? I know some purists will object, but I have my car to drive....Thanks
Think of yourself as an F-16 pilot. The seats recline 30 degrees and once you get used to it, it's the only way to go. However, if yours bother you, why not toss a throw pillow behind the seat. That should reduce the amount somewhat.......
The bolts that attach to the seat frame to the body are fairly long, so you can help the situation a little by removing the seat (four nuts from underside of car), and then installing three or four fender washers between the seat frame and carpet on the two rear holes, and then reinstalling the seat. I have the same problem with my '81, and so far, this is the only "fix" I've come up with.
This will also provide a good opportunity to clean carpet, which will be pretty dirty, if you've had the car a while and never removed the seat.
Look at the sgi pic, it's all the way back and angled as far back as it will go and I'm slouching a bit, my head still sticks out a little :D
I'm only 6'2" so I feel for the people that are taller.
I would agree with the washer trick, I have done that for my wife who is 5'5" tall.
The washers would be a good permanent fix.
My rear stops were (are) trashed in my drivers seat, so it sat way too far back.
I put a piece (1.5'x2.5') of 3-4" foam behind the seat. It propped me up nicely.
You could try this, to determine how far forward you would like to go,
before pulling any mounting bolts. For me, it was a good fix for over a year.

I took back bolts off and got some unistrut one inch thick and used longer bolts with unistrut under
rear of seat. Did the same for pass. side. I ain't so tall that I hit top so it worked for me. Fender washers
would work also and you could use as many as you needed, I just wanted some more lift and I
used unistrut to spread weight over a larger area than just a washer. The only bad thing about raising
rear of seat is it moves you closer to wheel. I drive with seat at rearmost position and I'm only 5'8
and thats when I'm stretching. Steve
My son is 6'-7" and takes the t-top off and drives with his head out the top. Or just drive downhill all the time... or put something behind the seatback...or behind the driver...
