I would like to replace my fuel filter on my 76 L-82. All I can find is a crappy Delco paper one for the GF47 Quadrajet. Does anyone know which filter would be the best to buy and where? Also, are there any tutorials on here how to replace it? I have only basic mechanic skills.
The Quadrajet has used that type of filter, either long or short for decades. You need two wrenches one to hold the inlet fitting and the other to remove the fuel line nut. Then use the large wrench to remove the inlet fitting. You may want to make small marks on both nuts in order to not over tighten them when reinstalling.
Also there's a small spring in with the filter, pay attention to how it came out. The worst thing you could do is cross thread the filter housing. (Don't do that!) other than that and a few drips of gas on the driveway, it's easy.

Agreed. A 5/8" flare and a 1" open. Don't even think about a crescent wrench or vice grips.
Paul, good point about using the flare nut wrench. Not everyone knows about those and Bubba has screwed up a lot of fluid fittings, including brake lines.
I would suggest while at the auto store buy a Haynes Manual for Corvette 68-82. It is a real basic manual to get you started. @$20.
On pages 1.13, 1.14 they provide pictures, and a step by step tutorial on the change and also mentions the flare nut wrench. It also provides the basic workings of the C3.
